Empowering Girls Through Menstrual Hygiene & SRH Education

During the first quarter of 2024, Scholars of Hope Foundation, in collaboration with GenHope Foundation and Project Zambia, rolled out impactful Menstrual Hygiene and Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) Outreach Programs to support girls living in orphanages.

The primary goal of these programs was to provide education on sustainable menstrual management and ensure that young girls have both the knowledge and resources needed to care for their health with dignity.

What We Covered

Our sessions focused on key topics, including:

  1. Understanding female puberty and the menstrual cycle
  2. Practicing proper hygiene during menstruation
  3. Guidance on the safe use of reusable sanitary towels
  4. Raising awareness on sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

Orphanages Reached

The outreach targeted three orphanages in Lusaka:

  1. Home of Happiness for Children with Disabilities
  2. Wons Ministry Orphanage
  3. Home of Merciful Beginnings

Lasting Impact

In total, 80 girls were reached through these outreach activities—each empowered with life-changing knowledge and access to reusable sanitary products. By breaking the silence around menstruation and SRH, we are helping young girls build confidence, resilience, and healthier futures.

This collaboration demonstrates the power of partnerships in transforming lives and ensuring that no girl is left behind.

Together, we are building a generation of confident, informed, and empowered young women.
